Good News and Bad News
February 28, 2005 - 7:13 PM Good News! My dad is finishing up with his treatment, and he and his wife are coming home in mid-March! Bad News! We will no longer benefit from their Seattle shopping excursions. You should see the shoes Ping has gotten. Really. Good News! Ping is finally feeling better! Bad News! Now her very part-time babysitter is sick (she didn't get it from Ping, by the way) and we're scrambling to find someone to take Ping to her class tomorrow. Good News! Ping is picking her nose less. Bad News! It's because she's traumatized. Last night, while P-Daddy was putting her to bed, Ping was a-pickin', and must have gouged herself because all of a sudden she was crying hysterically and they came out of the bedroom with blood EVERYWHERE. It was a really dramatic nosebleed, and poor Ping was freaking out. She was crying really hard and swallowing blood and then started throwing up. It took a long time and a LOT of tissues and a change of clothes and mama putting her to bed with a bottle of milk to get everything back to normal again. Good News! I got my application to Bank Street in, except I'm still working on the massive autobiography they require of all their applicants (and allow to be submitted a little later). Well, at least I don't need to get it all notarized. Bad News! I have yet to begin the financial aid application. Okay, I know that's not really bad news, but come on - I've got a gimmick going here. * Okay, in other news, we watched the Oscars last night - didn't you? And it was pretty fucking boring. And what was up with Hillary Swank's backwards dress? Of course, we've been largely homebound over the past year, so we haven't seen a lot of the nominated movies. (We did see Ray on video on Saturday . . . and um . . . oh! we totally saw Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Wait, that was last year . . . ) But, I'm glad Charlie Kaufman got the original screenplay Oscar for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which we did see on video), and I'm glad Jamie Foxx won, less because of his performance (which was good, but I'm not a fan of biopics), but because in the moments before Ping's nosebleed I caught him telling Barbara Walters that he likes big women. So, you know, he deserves any award he's ever nominated for ever in his whole life for that comment, in my book. Okay, so can any of you babysit tomorrow morning?
